Ohh, let's be honest you already knew Cyprus had some pretty awesome beaches!! :) As of 2022 Cyprus has a total of 74 beaches and 2 marinas around the island that were awarded the prestigious Blue Flag Award. This award is one of the world's most recognized voluntary awards dating back to 1987 and in order to qualify strict criteria must be met from educational, safety, accessibility, and environmental.

A huge chunk of these amazing beaches are in our area, some you may have already heard of like Fig tree Bay, Ayia Thekla beach, Nissi beach, and others may be a little foreign to you - Lombardi, Louma, Minas, and Vrysoudia. We have a lot of exploring to do... but don't worry we are up for the challenge.

As we explore we will add more and more beaches to the list so you can browse through and pick the one that suits you best.

One of the things we love to do as a family is going to the beach, go figure! I mean we only live 10 minutes away by car and we should probably be spending more time on the beach than we do. Our beaches are breathtaking, with beautifully clear waters, and no tides, and when the weather is hot it's a great escape. That being said, our busiest time for work is during the summer, so we don't get to go as often as we would like. We love different beaches for different reasons, for example, fig tree bay is beautiful with the bay, you can walk to restaurants and grab a drink, enjoy the walkway and do watersports but for us with children, we prefer somewhere a little less busy like Gold Coast. If we want to unwind we go to Sirena bay or Vrysoudion beach as they are both smaller, quieter, and very picturesque. Not to forget back when we were without children Nissi Beach, Guaba and Macronissos were a big hit for us. We will go into a lot more details about the beaches here and all of them are mapped at the bottom so you can find the ones you like the look of easily.

Fig Tree Bay

Fig Tree bay beach is located in Protaras, it is famously known for its fig trees and a beautiful small island. It is a beach that is popular with families and friends alike and is bustling during summer. The sand is very smooth and the sea is extremely clear. To the side of the beach is a rocky area well known for its snorkeling and to the other side you also have the option of water sports. There is a walkway set just above this beach that connects you to restaurants, bakeries, bars, and other beaches of Protaras... if you keep walking it also takes you to other areas such as Pernera.

Konnos Beach

Konnos beach is located in the nature reserve area of Cape Greco. It's one of those beaches that are set down among nature, there are winding paths on the way down are shielded with trees which is just honestly kind of cool. At the bottom is a large sandy beach with crystal clear waters. In the distance, you can see the church and boats docked for swimming called the popular blue lagoon area. You can enjoy water sports with Mikes Water sports or there is a small cafe/restaurant to get refreshments. There is also another place we would highly recommend if you are at this beach which is the cliff bar that overlooks the beach. If you feel like taking a wander there are some lovely walking trails around this beach with caves too like cyclops cave. It's a popular place we like to bring our little ones as they get a kick out of picking up pine cones and exploring.

Vrysoudia Beach

Vrysoudion beach is located between Kapparis and Pernera in the Ayia Triada region. shhh... don't tell anyone but it is actually one of my favorite beaches. It's not the biggest beach but it is generally a quieter beach which I find really appealing. My main reason for it being my favorite beach is the greenery surrounding the bay, there is just something about the trees and the plants that gives it a beautiful vibe. A lot of the beaches have sand and crystal clear waters but this for me feels just a little different. I love seeing the butterflies that are attracted to the areas as well, it's something kind of unique. There is a lovely beach bar and Yialos restaurant above so if you don't feel like sitting on the sand you can hire one of those beds instead and enjoy the view or grab a cocktail under a thatched umbrella and just breathe in the holiday vibe.
