Churches and Monasteries in Cyprus
The little church of St Nicholas / Ayios Nicholaos is situated in Pernera in between the Pernera harbour and the Kalames / Louma / golden coast beach.
Its beauty is traditional blue and white in colour and surrounded by blue sea and skies. It is so popular with touists and locals and has become a popular wedding venue in recent years. Sunset around this area is beautiful.
The church inside is full with murials on the wall and ceiling and there is also a bell tower. The church has a celebration day on the 6th December, which is Saint Nicholas day.
St Elias church is the one you will see lit up at night at the top of the hill. It stands proud and tall and beautiful in Protaras and can be seen from Protaras and Pernera.

Before you go up, do yourself a favor and grab a sandwich from the kiosk at the bottom. Its a family-run business and a huge hit with the locals (so you know it is good). Our favorite is roast pork and halloumi with mayo and cucumber. Then enjoy a cold drink and a beautiful view when you get to the top.
